To ensure global and equitable access to the digital economy, the World Economic Forum has formed an alliance called the Essential Digital Infrastructure and Services Network (EDISON Alliance). Champion leaders from around the world are members of the Alliance. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak is representing Bangladesh in this alliance. It has been confirmed by the ICT department on Monday. State Minister for ICT Palak highlighted the technological initiatives of Bangladesh in the fields of education, health and economy at the first meeting of the alliance after its formation. He also highlighted the efforts made by Bangladesh to ensure digital access and reduce urban-rural disparities, which could easily be a role model for many other countries in the world. The new (new-normal) situation that has arisen around the world as a result of the Corona pandemic since 2019 has led to dramatic changes in access to digital technology. Using this technology has enabled people to work, learn and live as much as possible. At the same time, the pandemic is exposing and exacerbating existing inequalities in almost half the world's population. About 3.6 billion people in the world live offline. Broadband connectivity is still quite expensive for about 50 percent of the population in the developed world, which is hindering people's access to health, education and economic activities. In this context, the World Economic Forum has formed an alliance called the EDISON Alliance, which aims to ensure global and equitable access to the digital economy. Ensuring cross-sectoral cooperation between the technology industry and other critical sectors of the economy. At the inauguration, the World Economic Forum said it would provide advice and support to the coalition, a large group of champion leaders. It may be mentioned that in 2016, the World Economic Forum nominated Zunaid Ahmed Palak as the Young Global Leader. He was nominated from all over the South Asian Region that year.
